The Ritual Room iS Clinical Cheat Sheet: Find Your Routine

Not sure where to start with iS Clinical? You're not alone. The line is extensive by design — every product has a specific purpose, and the results are in the layering. This guide cuts through the noise and gives you a clear, clinical starting point based on your actual skin type.

Every product listed below is available at the Ritual SkinBar — in clinic and online. If you're ever unsure which routine fits you best, our team is always happy to help you build one.

How to use this guide

Identify your primary skin type or concern below. Each routine follows the same four-step framework iS Clinical is built on: Cleanse → Treat → Hydrate → Protect. Morning and evening routines are listed separately. Scroll to the bottom for bonus add-on treatments that layer into any routine.

Normal / Balanced

Skin that feels comfortable, rarely congested, and has minimal sensitivity. The goal is maintenance — preserving clarity and radiance while building long-term skin health.

Morning

  1. Cleansing Complex — gentle resurfacing cleanse to start fresh

  2. Pro-Heal Serum Advance+ — antioxidant defence and vitamin C for daily environmental protection

  3. Hydra-Cool Serum — lightweight hyaluronic acid hydration

  4. C Eye Serum Advance+ + Eye Complex — brighten and resurface the orbital area

  5. Moisturizing Complex — balanced, lightweight daily moisture

  6. Eclipse SPF 50+ — ultra-sheer broad-spectrum protection

Evening

  1. Cleansing Complex — clears SPF, pollutants, and daily buildup

  2. Active Serum — brightening acids and willow bark for clarity and tone

  3. C Eye Serum Advance+ + Eye Complex — evening application compounds brightening results

  4. Moisturizing Complex — light overnight moisture to finish

Ritual tip: Introduce Retinol+ Emulsion 0.3 two to three nights per week to stay ahead of early aging. The Copper Firming Mist works well as a toning or setting step any time of day.

Dry / Dehydrated

Skin that feels tight, looks dull, or shows fine dehydration lines. The focus is deep moisture, barrier repair, and surface integrity — without any stripping.

Morning

  1. Cream Cleanser — moisturizing, non-stripping cleanse

  2. Pro-Heal Serum Advance+ — vitamin C and E with calming, restorative properties

  3. Hydra-Cool Serum — core hyaluronic acid layer that draws and holds moisture

  4. Eye Complex — resurfacing eye treatment before sealing with moisturizer

  5. Reparative Moisture Emulsion — rich emollient barrier before SPF

  6. Extreme Protect SPF 40 — hydrating SPF with built-in skin-restoring benefits

Evening

  1. Cream Cleanser — cushioning cleanse that never strips a compromised barrier

  2. Hydra-Cool Serum — double hydration layer in the PM if dryness is chronic

  3. Eye Complex — overnight resurfacing and renewal around the eye

  4. Reparative Moisture Emulsion — rich overnight barrier repair while you sleep

Ritual tip: Start Retinol+ Emulsion 0.3 once weekly — sandwich it between Hydra-Cool Serum and Reparative Moisture Emulsion to prevent sensitivity. Hale Derma Spray makes an excellent soothing toner or mid-day refresh.

Oily

Skin with excess sebum and shine. The approach is to regulate without over-stripping — dehydrated oily skin compensates by producing even more oil.

Morning

  1. Cleansing Complex — deep-cleaning and pore-clearing without over-drying

  2. Active Serum — willow bark and salicylic acid to keep pores clear

  3. Hydra-Cool Serum — oil-free hydration that prevents the dehydration-oil cycle

  4. Eye Complex — lightweight resurfacing eye treatment

  5. Moisturizing Complex — balanced, non-comedogenic daily moisture

  6. Eclipse SPF 50+ — ultra-sheer, won't contribute to congestion

Evening

  1. Cleansing Complex — never skip the PM cleanse for this skin type

  2. Active Serum — continued clearing and cell turnover overnight

  3. Eye Complex — lightweight overnight renewal around the eye

  4. Hydra-Cool Serum — light finish; skip heavy creams that can block pores

Ritual tip: Hale Derma Spray is ideal post-workout or as a midday refresh — naturally antibacterial and keeps skin balanced between washes. Introduce Retinol+ Emulsion 0.3 when ready for added renewal.

Congestion / Breakout-Prone

Recurring breakouts, clogged pores, or post-inflammatory marks. The focus is active clearing, consistent exfoliation, and keeping the skin barrier intact throughout treatment.

Morning

  1. Cleansing Complex — resurfacing and pore-clearing; the cornerstone cleanser for congested skin

  2. Active Serum — salicylic and glycolic acids actively clear and prevent breakouts

  3. Hydra-Cool Serum — essential hydration; congested skin still needs moisture

  4. Eye Complex — resurfacing eye treatment consistent with the routine's clearing focus

  5. Moisturizing Complex — lightweight, non-comedogenic finish

  6. Eclipse SPF 50+ — non-comedogenic SPF that protects post-inflammatory marks from darkening

Evening

  1. Cleansing Complex — double cleanse if wearing makeup or SPF

  2. Active Serum — overnight clearing that works while you sleep

  3. Eye Complex — consistent resurfacing around the eye area

  4. Hydra-Cool Serum — keep the finish light and breathable; skip heavy cream

Ritual tip: Add the XS Extra Strength Active Peel Brightening System once weekly to accelerate clearing and fade post-inflammatory marks. Hale Derma Spray is ideal post-workout — antibacterial and calming without disrupting the skin barrier.

Combination

An oily T-zone alongside dry or normal cheeks. Two opposing skin behaviours in one face — the key is zoned application rather than a one-size routine.

Morning

  1. Cleansing Complex — balances both zones without over-drying the cheeks

  2. Pro-Heal Serum Advance+ — antioxidant correction across all zones

  3. Hydra-Cool Serum — universally appropriate; lightweight enough for the T-zone

  4. Eye Complex — resurfacing eye treatment before moisturizer

  5. Moisturizing Complex — balanced moisture appropriate across both zones

  6. Eclipse SPF 50+ or Extreme Protect SPF 40 — Eclipse for a lighter finish; Extreme Protect if dryness is significant

Evening

  1. Cleansing Complex — removes the day without disrupting the barrier

  2. Active Serum (T-zone focus) — concentrate on nose, forehead, and chin where congestion lives

  3. Hydra-Cool Serum (all over) — even hydration layer across the full face

  4. Eye Complex — consistent overnight resurfacing around the eye

  5. Reparative Moisture Emulsion (dry zones only) — spot apply to cheeks; skip the T-zone entirely

Ritual tip: Think of combination skin as two skin types sharing one face — and treat them accordingly. Retinol+ Emulsion 0.3 two to three nights per week works well across both zones.

Sensitive / Reactive

Skin that reddens easily, reacts to new products, or feels persistently tight and irritated. The priority is barrier support, minimal disruption, and calming actives only.

Morning

  1. Cream Cleanser — soothing and fragrance-free; the gentlest option in the line

  2. Pro-Heal Serum Advance+ — vitamin C and olive-derived antioxidants with a strong calming profile

  3. Hydra-Cool Serum — cooling and barrier-supportive; ideal for reactive skin

  4. Youth Eye Complex — growth factor repair around the eye with no exfoliation risk

  5. Reparative Moisture Emulsion — restorative and soothing for consistent barrier reinforcement

  6. Extreme Protect SPF 40 — broad-spectrum with restorative properties; suitable post-procedure

Evening

  1. Cream Cleanser — consistent cleanse; no reason to introduce a new PM product

  2. Pro-Heal Serum Advance+ — repeat PM for amplified barrier recovery overnight

  3. Youth Eye Complex — growth factor is especially effective overnight; restorative without irritation

  4. Reparative Moisture Emulsion — seal and repair the barrier while you sleep

Ritual tip: Introduce one new product at a time, two weeks apart. Hale Derma Spray is excellent as a toner or midday mist — naturally antibacterial and healing without disrupting sensitized skin. If retinol is a goal, Retinol+ Emulsion 0.3 is among the most tolerable formulations — always patch test first.

Pigmentation / Uneven Tone

Dark spots, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or generally uneven skin tone. This routine is built around layered brightening actives — consistent use is everything.

Morning

  1. Cleansing Complex — resurfacing cleanse to prep skin for actives

  2. Brightening Serum — exfoliating treatment serum targeting dark spots and discolouration

  3. Super Serum Advance+ — concentrated correction that brightens, firms, and accelerates renewal

  4. C Eye Serum Advance+ — vitamin C targets dark circles and periorbital pigmentation

  5. Brightening Complex — antioxidant-rich moisturizing cream that evens tone and protects results

  6. Eclipse SPF 50+ or Extreme Protect SPF 40 — SPF is non-negotiable; UV exposure reverses every brightening active you apply

Evening

  1. Cleansing Complex — especially important when wearing SPF over actives

  2. Brightening Serum — PM application amplifies exfoliating and corrective action overnight

  3. GenXC Serum — advanced brightening and anti-aging; works synergistically with the Brightening Serum

  4. C Eye Serum Advance+ + Youth Eye Complex — layer both; C Eye Serum corrects, Youth Eye Complex regenerates overnight

  5. Brightening Complex — seals actives in and continues tone correction while you sleep

Ritual tip: Add Retinol+ Emulsion 0.3 two to three nights per week between the GenXC Serum and Brightening Complex to accelerate cell turnover. Consistency with SPF is the single most important factor in any pigmentation routine.

Mature / Anti-Aging

Loss of firmness, deepening lines, dullness, or volume changes. This routine is multi-targeted — stimulating renewal, supporting collagen, and protecting the results of professional treatments.

Morning

  1. Cleansing Complex or Cream Cleanser — Cream Cleanser if dryness is a secondary concern

  2. Super Serum Advance+ — concentrated correction that brightens, firms, and visibly renews

  3. GenXC Serum — advanced brightening and anti-aging serum; a cornerstone of this routine

  4. C Eye Serum Advance+ + Youth Eye Complex — layer both; vitamin C brightens, growth factor firms and regenerates

  5. Daily Dynamic Hydrator — advanced all-in-one moisturizer that hydrates, defends, and renews

  6. Extreme Protect SPF 40 — UV is the single greatest accelerant of aging; the highest protection tier in the line

Evening

  1. Cleansing Complex or Cream Cleanser — match your AM cleanser for consistency

  2. Active Serum — age-defying acids that accelerate tone correction and surface renewal

  3. GenXC Serum — PM application maximizes overnight regenerative action

  4. Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0 — for experienced retinol users; apply three to four nights per week

  5. C Eye Serum Advance+ + Youth Eye Complex — growth factor works especially well overnight; layer after retinol

  6. Daily Dynamic Hydrator — seals actives in and supports overnight renewal

Ritual tip: Add NeckPerfect Complex as a dedicated neck and décolleté step — apply after your serum, before moisturizer, morning and night. Copper Firming Mist works beautifully as a toning or setting step. Pair this routine with regular professional treatments — iS Clinical's Fire & Ice Facial or Prodigy Peel Systems compound results significantly.
